Oh my gosh! I know a lot of fans would complain if this happened, but I'd love to see Ash's Pikachu evolve. XD I had thought about that several times. Unfortunately, Pikachu is considered the most important Pokémon to fans, so there would be a lot of complaints if that Pikachu evolved.

there was that episode with Pikachu vs. Lt. Surge's Raichu, and Pikachu demanded not to evolve. he (we asume it's a he) stoped Ash by tossing the Thunderstone with his tail. but... wouldn't contact with his tail activate the stone?
I remember that episode, but it was such a long time ago. I think the animators don't want to evolve Pikachu because fans are so used to seeing Pikachu that way.
You’re right. Ash’s Pikachu is a male. There are two ways of knowing. In the Gold and Silver versions of the Pokémon Game Boy games, Ash battled with several Pokémon and their genders were given. Pikachu was his highest level Pokémon and it was a male. That Pikachu was at level 81, which was the Pokémon with the highest level to appear in any Pokémon handheld game before Pokémon Platinum. Also, in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, gender differences were introduced for some Pokémon: a female Pikachu has an indent at the end of her tail, giving it a heart-shaped appearance. Male Pikachu don’t have that.
Also, normally contact with a Thunder Stone should make Pikachu evolve, but the animators won’t make Ash’s Pikachu evolve, so they’ll probably come up with excuses, such as, “That was an exception,” or, “We can’t make Pikachu evolve because fans would complain!” There are a lot of inconsistencies with Pokémon. For example, shouldn’t Ash look older now??! I mean, it’s been years, so he cannot look like a ten year old anymore.

That's so true! But then again, in the game we can hit the B button, so guess there is a way to stop evolution by choice, even though it touched it. Can be as easy as the contact needs to last longer to take effect too
I agree that Pikachu has to stay Pikachu. But could be fun if he got another Pikachu and evolved it, thus have a Raichu as well
